Now that the holidays are over, you are probably regretting that extra piece of pie, or second helping of turkey. You are probably like so many other people out there, and you hate going to the gym or you want to avoid the crowds of people that have decided that it’s “New Year, New Me.” Sweating it out can be extremely distasteful to some or impossible for others. So other than exercise, what can you do to get your beach body out of hiding? In the past, trends have included juicing, Atkins, Weight Watchers and countless other programs that promised results. This year, you will see results with the following three options.
Paleo
While it may sound like something out of the dark ages, you will find that this diet is simple. It can be hunted or fished, organ meat and seafood. Other components will include eggs, fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices. Foods that are not included are anything processed or grains, legumes (beans and peanuts), raw dairy, salt, and oils. Raw Dairy is considered by some experts to be paleo while there is some discrepancy between experts. If included, you have a Neo-Paleo version. Ironically enough, we are going back to the roots, so if a caveman could not eat it, neither should you.
Quinoa
If you do not want to go all the way back to the stone ages, you can try adding a little more green in your day to day consumptions. This grain is actually more like a vegetable, being a close relative of spinach, kale, and Swiss chard. It is rich in protein, vitamins and minerals and it leaves you feeling satisfied, not deprived like other options for your consumptions. This wonder grain is especially helpful for vegetarians trying to lose weight who have trouble finding foods that will fill them up. Dietary fiber binds to fat and cholesterol, which causes your body to absorb less fat and cholesterol.
Apple Cider Vinegar
You probably could have used this one before the holidays, but a ‘magic elixir’ has been used for centuries as a versatile ingredient with a wide-range of uses. Cleansing diets and juicing have popularized certain foods as “silver bullets” for weight loss. Apple cider vinegar mixed with water has been touted as an appetite suppressant that helps dieters snack less, and eat moderately sized portions of food. You can eat whatever you want with it; just do not exceed more than four tablespoons a day. You can fast to drop instant weight or you can use it before a meal to make it easier. No matter which diet you choose, you will be sure to find your inner six pack fast.
