My husband Rob and I love making this dish any time in the year, including the holidays. Sometimes it even gets requested for Thanksgiving by our family members, which is already saying a lot about the dish!

If you’ve never had this dish, you’ll be surprised to know that the recipe involves no actual chicken meat. Instead, it calls for boneless round steak. They are dipped into the egg mixture, coated with the cracker crumbs, and fried. It’s made very similar to fried chicken, but of course, it’s actually steak not chicken. For best results, remember to cut the meat into ½ inch thickness and pound each piece to tenderize.

Here at Kathey Jo’s Kitchen, we always try to level up what we serve our families, and this sauce really does level up any meal! It truly takes a savory meal to a sweet and sensational point where you will combine many of your future meals with this simple made sauce.

Besides being a delicious sauce, it’s also pretty simple to make. The star ingredient is, you guessed: apricots. You’ll need both apricot nectar and dried apricots, ½ cup of the dried version and 5 ½ ounces of the nectar. Likewise, you’ll want to include dried rosemary leaves and fresh rosemary leaves. The flavors balance out perfectly with the hint of ground cinnamon and ginger.

Making a boiled dinner is probably one of the easiest meals you could possibly make. How? Well, for starters, yes, it may be a little time consuming because it requires some hours to cook, but in reality, you don’t always have to be right there in front of the pan every second. There is a lot of waiting involved, but the waiting is what truly makes the flavors from the meat and veggies come forward.

The recipe calls for up to three pounds of pork spareribs. These are one of my favorites to cook with because when you cook them properly, they melt off the bone effortlessly.
