Double Nut Baklava

Double Nut Baklava

When I first tried baklava, I knew I had to make a remix of my own. This recipe highlights double nuts: macadamia nuts, and pecans. Sometimes I even switch out the pecans for walnuts. It’s a delicious recipe that is continuously made here at Kathey Jo’s Kitchen. Baklava is one of husband Rob’s favorite deserts, so trust me, this one is a must try!

The flakey pastry is quite simple to make, considering the layering and number of steps. Besides the delicious nuts, you’ll also need a series of flavorful ingredients such as ground allspice, shredded coconuts, brown sugar, and of course, honey! If you are not a huge fan of nuts, or would like to experiment with other fillings, you can also try pistachios.

Bagel French Toast

Bagel French Toast

Who says you should eat breakfast foods only in the morning? Not me! I love breakfast foods at any time of the day, especially toast and bagels. Now imagine combining them into one item—a masterpiece is formed! This bagel French toast is so delicious and totally levels up from simple slices of bread.

When it’s time to grill the bagels, make sure to evenly coat with the egg mixture beforehand. For best results, you should consider soaking for several minutes. After setting the grill for 350 degrees, grill each side for about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remember, based on the thickness of the bagel, it may take a bit longer, so you can always grill until golden brown.

I have to say, I love a sweet breakfast...
